No matter how you choose to give, the Bangor Symphony Orchestra appreciates your generosity and support!

Annual Fund
Annual Fund Supporters help cover the costs of everything from day-to-day administration to concerts to education programs.

  • Donate $150 or more, and you'll become a member of the Bangor Symphony Orchestra Corporation.

  • Donate $50 or more, and we'll list your name in our classical season program books.

  • Donate $50 or more in memory of a friend or loved one, and we'll recognize your gift in our program book "In memory of...." or "In honor of..."

We appreciate donations of any amount and put them to good use every year!

The Bangor Symphony Endowment
Contribute to the BSO endowment, and you're helping to ensure the Symphony's future. A strong endowment means we'll have both operating income and reinvestment opportunities for decades to come — so we can continue to present our full schedule of concerts as well as the educational and outreach programs the region has come to count on. You're also welcome to designate your contribution to the endowment for a specific purpose, like scholarships and award gifts for aspiring musicians.

Bequests
Leave a legacy. When you include the Symphony in your will, you're providing us with a wonderful contribution without affecting your current assets. Bequests — of property, real estate, a specific dollar amount, or a percentage of the estate — can also benefit you and your family with significant estate tax deductions.

Appreciated Securities
Gifts of publicly traded stocks — that have appreciated and been held for more than 12 months — allow you to support the Bangor Symphony Orchestra while taking the full fair-market value of the stock as an income tax deduction, and without paying capital gains taxes.

Charitable Remainder Trusts
Charitable remainder trusts are life-income gifts. You transfer assets today, receive a charitable deduction for a portion of the transfer, and then you or the Symphony receives income for the rest of your life — or for whatever time period you designate. You can also set up a charitable remainder trust to be established at your passing, at which time your estate will receive the charitable deduction.

Gifts of Life Insurance
Donate life insurance to the Bangor Symphony, or name us as your beneficiary. When you donate a policy paid-in-full, you'll receive an income tax deduction equal to the lesser cash value of the policy, or to the total premiums paid. In order for you to qualify for a charitable deduction when making a gift of an existing policy, you must name the Symphony as owner and beneficiary.

Corporate Giving
The Symphony is so grateful for the support of our business community. There are so many ways your company can contribute to our work — by sponsoring a particular concert or event, by establishing a matching gift program, and by donating to our annual fund.

Matching Gifts
Many organizations and companies will match their employees' contributions, doubling the amount of the gift. Check with you employer to find out if you can support the Symphony through a matching gift program, and make your contribution go twice as far!

Make a bequest or deferred gift to the Symphony and you're eligible for membership in the Abbie N. Garland Society, a dedicated group of patrons and supporters

Please call the Symphony office at 207.942.5555 or 800.639.3221
if you have any questions. Thank you so much for your help and support.

Please consult your personal tax and legal advisors about charitable giving. BSO is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Your contribution is tax deductible to the full extent of the law.
