Saturday, February 23, 2008 – 1 p.m. ( snow date - February 24) Minsky Recital Hall School of Performing Arts University of Maine, Orono 2007 Maine High School Concerto Competition 1st Place winner: Violinist Heather Thomas of Belgrade. 2007 Maine High School Concerto Competition Winners, L - R: 1st: Heather Thomas, Belgrade; 2nd: Marlene McCarthy, Farmingdale; and 3rd: Rachael Townsend, Jefferson. Open to all Maine high school students, the competition offers each year's winner the chance of a lifetime – to perform with the full Bangor Symphony Orchestra for thousands of students and teachers at our youth concerts in May of the following season. If you play a traditional orchestral instrument – including piano, harp, saxophone or percussion – this year's winner could be you! You'll also be recognized with a cash prize.
